Kitchen Dialogues

Martinka Bobrikova & Oscar de Carmen

Kitchen Dialogues is a new chapter of the eponymous long term project dealing with creating communities/practices of socialisation by means of food sharing and cooking. The aim of the intervention is to explore the possibilities of creating a new social ecosystem. Through this action, the project authors Martinka Bobrikova and Oscar de Carmen map the art scene in Bratislava. For a period of 5 days, from May 30 to June 3, the artists will serve a free lunch menu in café Berlinka for special meal vouchers at the usual lunchtime between 11:30 and 13:30. These meal vouchers will be distributed in selected art institutions in Bratislava on the basis of a self-declaration of belonging to the art scene.

BIO:

The artist duo Martinka Bobrikova (b.1981) & Oscar de Carmen (b. 1976) have been working together since 2005. Their practice, which is often community based, aims at setting up new social ecosystems. By revolving around the mechanisms and contexts by which power creates systems of value, they seek to intervene on the border between art and current topics of contemporary life, in order to bring about the proposition of the transitory and the utopian. They both hold MFAs from Nordic Sound Art programme andMalmo Art Academy, Sweden and have worked together as an artist duo since 2005. They have presented their work worldwide in venues and projects such as the 2nd Tbilisi Triennial, Prague Quadrennial, Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, City Gallery Bratislava, Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde, Roda Sten & City Museum in Gothenburg etc. They are currently based in Oslo, Norway.
